This week promises to be hectic. My homebuilding partner is gone to the Houston Livestock show. Vale-Irvin Homes now has 19 projects underway and many are already sold.
Patriot Furniture is in the middle of production on the next ad campaign, "find your pot of gold". The further deterioration of the economy is very worrisome. I feel Obama's Keynesian, socialistic economic policy will have dire consequences to the longterm health of our country. Fortunately, I live in an area that doesn't typically ebb and flow with downturns like the rest of the country. Although I don't agree with some of Obama's plans for the economy (like allowing companies that made poor decisions to be bailed out by our government), I do believe that he is in a situation that he did not create. In all fairness, I have to give his policies a chance to work. It took several years to get us into this terrible mess; it will not be solved within months. It will take several years to get us out. A talk show host from KLBJ 590 recently stated it very well: "Capitalism without bankruptcy is like religion without hell." I couldn't agree more.
